Traditions

What tradition am I referring to? It's the chinese wedding's tradition. Though I know some of it but today I only realised there's more of it.

Meeting the bride
I think most of you know. The groom will go over to the bride's house. Before the groom can enter the house, he has to do something the bride's girlfriends tell them to do. The groom will have his best friends to help(suffer) with him too. Then give ang pow as a "toll fee" to enter the house. Not easy to get the bride :P

Tong Yuen
The couple is to eat tong yuen (if you don't know what's that, google it), which means in cantonese "tun yuen". In english it somehow means a complete family. Some sort.

Hitting the "tam tong"/like a small pail.. Don't know how to describe xD
Which is for their future kids? Something like hitting the pail with the fist and getting the ang pow inside it.

Kids rolling on the bed
Which bring a meaning for their future kids also. As many kids (boys and girls) will roll on the bed, symbolising for the couple to have children (as many children).

Serving tea
Of course, the basic. Is to acknowledge a new family member to each side of the family. :)

There are a lot more of the tradition. I remember mom telling me some of it which are not here. And I can't remember any of it at the moment. Will tell you when I remember :D These traditions are slowly being ignored. They may think it's old-fashioned. But I don't see it that way. It is very special and unique in the Chinese way ;)
